May the force be with you: outfit of the day

I decided to do a post on my Star Wars themed outfit seeing as I am always talking about how great the clothing label Black Milk Clothing are. This is a dress from their Star Wars collection called the "Boba Fett's last stand dress". It's size small (i'm a UK size 8/10 so a small will fit anybody who's a similar size). The dress fits me perfectly and doesn't feel like it clings too much which I find with other body hugging dresses or tops. The colours and design are very vibrant and always seem to catch people's eyes as I'm always being asked where did I get my dress from. I think this dress is very much a signature piece that you should team plain basics with, as too many patterns and designs being mixed up would distract the eye too much. I would team this with a plain black cardigan and a pair of plain heels or wedges for a night out wearing this, and to dress it down to be day wear I would team it with a cardigan or jacket (again try to find a plain one so that it doesn't clash with the dress) and some plain black or grey converse or vans.

Spring is fast approaching and that means it's the season for dresses and cute tights and floaty materials and of course my favourite, the floral patterns! In this photograph I am wearing a dress from Topshop found in the sale items at only £10! Bargain price for such a cute find! The pork pie hat I'm wearing is also a topshop original and is available in a black, dark plum or dark green colour and is selling at the price £25. The boots in this image are black lace up suede ankle boots and are from H&M's winter collection and are on sale for the price of £30.99. All of these items of clothing are high street finds and easy to put together to make a cute, spring time look! If you want to find a cheaper equivalent to these topshop finds then maybe shopping at a store such as Primark or TK Maxx you may find some similar style pieces at even lower prices, nothing better than a bargain, unique find :)

I won a giveaway/competition for the first time in my life!



Haha i entered a giveaway on littledevilxo's instagram and my name was picked. I won 2 mac lipsticks, an eyeshadow pallette with lots of different colours, a cute pink make up bag with little hearts all over it, a pair of fake eyelashes and a $25 victoria's secret giftcard! She also wrote the cutest thank you note to thank me for entering the giveaway and packed it all up super cute, even the parcel had lots of cute disney and princess stickers all over it! It was so so so nice to receive something lucky and nice like this after the week of my ongoing health troubles and uni stress I've had. I will do a review of the products in time once I use them but they are all perfect and I'm very happy right now :)

The trick to shopping @ American Apparel!
Now many people always write to me saying how can I afford clothes from American apparel when i'm only a student and their clothes are quite pricey. Well there is a trick on how to save money on their website that I'm going to show you in case you didn't know about this part of the website already, seeing as I didn't find out about it until about a year ago. So there is a part of the website called "Oops! we've made too many" and it's the section where American Apparel place all their garments that they have made too much stock of and they sell them at the lowest base prices so you can buy almost anything in this section for under $10 (£6)! The hottest looks from the Valentino Spring 2013 showcase in Paris, France.
These are just some of the looks that I have picked out from the show that I think were the most beautiful and inspiring. I love how vibrant and yet feminine these designs are! I also love that they aren't so "out there" that I look at them and think yes high fashion and bold but no way I could ever wear that. I look at these designs and think yes I think I could wear one of these out to an event and feel feminine and sexy just like these models probably do. I love his use of floral patterns and lace work as well, they really bring out the feeling of spring and freshness. None of the designs I've picked look too heavy or serious, they all just look classy and feminine and fresh for spring my personal opinion. I especially loved the idea of using black and red in the collection, because those aren't typically spring colours, usually we'd associate spring with pastels and lighter colours but these really work I feel. Red and black means a sort of sexiness and edginess is brought to spring and that's what I love about the few I've picked out. See images below to know which pieces I'm talking about.

Wanelo!
So on tumblr, facebook, instagram etc I saw a lot of people I follow talking about a wishlist style app for android phones called Wanelo, and oh my gosh it's perfect! I love making wishlists but this app makes them even more fun because most of the links lead you right to the store where you can buy the item you're envying! How great is that - although I will warn you now if you're like me and you love making wishlists then this app is super addictive hehe. Anyways below are some snapshots of my wanelo so you guys can have a better idea of how it looks, layout-wise etc. If you decide to try out the app then add me to it @chocolateandwhiskey and we can all creep each others wishlists and be cute together haha. Ok that's all for today just wanted to dedicate a quick post to this app as I think it's fab and also it's great if you have any friends or family that use it because when it comes to gift buying now you can just go creep their wanelo page and know exactly what they are wishing for ;3 haha!

This blog entry is dedicated to a review on one of my favourite restaurants to go to. I just wanted to tell you guys a bit about the offers Yo Sushi does and why you should visit there for a meal one time if you live near one because they are so much fun and cheaper than you'd think to considering sushi is usually quite high end when it comes to prices!

My favourite dishes there are:
♥ Chicken katsu curry
♥ Chicken katsu
♥ Salmon nigiri
♥ and the Hairy prawns! -
Just come suggestions if you want to try something yummy but are a bit intimidated by the vast choices on the menu :) (note: I'm not a vegan/vegetarian and these dishes all contain meat so don't order them if you are! they have vegetarian sushi options available on the menu. I know you guessed that probably by the names but I have to say just in case hehe)

So the first offer I wanted to tell you about is the one you get if you are a student and you joing the Love sushi club that they run. I became a member and now all I have to do is sign into their website before I go for my meal and print of my 25% discount student voucher straight from my account page :) It's easy and means you get to eat more of their yummy food for a good price!

The next way to save money at yo sushi (if you aren't a student or a club member) is to go there to eat on a monday, as this is when they run their Blue monday event. Every monday they have a selection of dishes from the menu that all vary in price and they put them all on the belt in blue dishes and every meal from the sushi to the hot katsu etc is all the same price for once, a cheap £2.40 a dish! I always love going there on a monday as you can pile up your dishes and not have to worry about adding up all different colour dishes and prices at the end of your meal and it usually works out to a cheap, easy price :D

Black Milk Clothing: The newer collections review & Some lower price alternatives if the collections are out of your price budget!
So for a while now I've been a big fan of the australian clothing company Black Milk Clothing. I first noticed them when I spotted a girl on lookbook.nu wearing their galaxy leggings and instantly became addicted to their awesome, out there designs. They soon began expanding their collection and creating more and more different garments from leggings to dresses and bathing suits. My first garment I owned of their's of course had to be the pink and purple nebula design leggings, which I must say I wear lots and lots to both day and night time events. I find that even though their leggings are considered quite pricey for a piece of clothing as simple as a pair of leggings, they are thick, good quality material, durable (i've spilled many a drink on them on a night out and they still are in perfect condition to this day) and i find they fit perfectly, they don't go baggy at the knees like cotton leggings can do and they don't lost their stretch no matter how much you sit, bend, dance in them etc! I think that they are definetly worth the price tag they come with and are a great investment because in the long run you could buy a pair of cotton leggings and be replacing them so many times anyway that you may as well have saved up and bought the black milk ones in the beginning! However I do understand that for some people, like me for example, are students or simply don't have the money to splash out on the products black milk clothing produce no matter how bad they want them, and so my later part of this post will be dedicated to you and what cheaper, nice alternatives there are out there.

However my next part of this post is dedicated to their two new collections, the Star Wars collection and the Lord of the rings/Hobbit collection. I love love love both these sagas, especially Star Wars, so when these collections were released I couldn't believe my eyes! My boyfriend bought me a piece from the Star Wars collection for christmas which was the Boba Fett's Last Stand dress (retail price: $130 AUS) and I must say it is just as perfect in real life as it is in the website's images. I would review it as a 10/10 on quality, it's again made out of the same durable, thick, supportive nylon-like material that the leggings are made out of. It feels great on, I felt like I would feel very concious with it on because of how tight to the body it appears in images, but the way it holds your body doesn't feel clingy at all it just feels fitted and comfortable! I would suggest that if anybody is considering buying one of the dresses from either of these collections (or the galaxy collection etc) then they should because in the long run it will last you a long time and feel great on! And the designs are just the best! I have posted some images below of what I thought were the cutest pieces from these two new collections along with their retail prices from the Black Milk Clothing website.

These "nature" print leggings are very, very similair to black milk's Aurora Skye print leggings and can be bought from this store for only $35, that's £22.

Warning! - These leggings from alternative store's probably won't be as durable or as amazing quality as any of the black milk clothing pieces but if it's for the fashion and trend of the moment that you want these leggings then these cheaper alternatives may work for you if you do't want to spend a huge sum of money on each piece of clothing. This post is also valentines related, but also i just thought it was cute to know about these kind of things.
